The Winter Edit | Dinosaur Soiree
So I know it's summer in much of the popular beauty blogging world, but I thought I would start with a post for the southern hemisphere today. I think I would describe this as my 'go to' winter makeup look, it's simple and doesn't require one hundred different products layered into a cakey oblivion! Products used:
The 'Revlon Color Stay' foundation in 'Ivory' is the very first that I've found matches my skin perfectly, which is excellent considering it comes from a drug store brand. I have the combination to oily formulation, which I find a tiny bit drying in the winter months, but I find after a few hours it sinks into my skin and looks more natural. I would say the coverage is medium to full, however I love light-weight foundations so I only use the tiniest amount which works fine.
For my cheeks I used my beloved 'Nars' blush in 'Sin'. This is the ultimate plummy winter colour that looks beautiful on any complexion, with tiny tiny TINY gold shimmers through it (hardly noticeable on skin!) I actually use this blush as a contour in the hollows of my cheeks which may be strange considering its a blush, however I find this looks very flattering on pale skin (and is a nice change from the brown contours normally used). I do caution anyone who wants to dive into Nars blushes though; they are extremely pigmented and honestly the smallest dab of your brush can give you vibrant colour!
On my eyes I'm wearing 'Lush' cream eyeshadow in 'Sophisticated' as a base. Honestly I wish so much that I could wear this shadow all over my lid as a wash of colour because it is simply beautiful, but the formulation is terrible! On its own it will crease on my eyelids within about 20 minutes, so I use it as a base. For eyeshadow I used my 'Urban Decay Naked2 Palette'. This palette is notorious in the beauty world, however I never see many people using it. But I use my 'Naked2 Palette' everyday and simply love it! here I am wearing the shade 'Suspect' all over my lid and 'Tease' very lightly in the crease over my base. Eyeliner is 'Stila Smudgestick' in 'Damsel', and my mascara is 'Maybelline the Falsies Flared'.
Finally on my lips I am wearing a 'Lip Crayon' from 'Topshop' in the shade 'Arcade', which is a beautiful wine red colour with a deep purple mixed in. This shade is very dark so I like to dab it in with my fingers which softens it a little.
Thank you for taking your time to read this, it means a lot. I would love any feedback you have in order to improve and grow!
What are your winter makeup must-haves?
